What we seek
True, unpublished short nonfiction about lived experiences that blur the line between ordinary and extraordinary—magical realism rooted in real life. Please read prior work to understand our voice and standards (sample copies available in our online store).
Originality & eligibility
- Submissions must be original and previously unpublished. Anything appearing online (blogs, newsletters, social media, Medium, etc.) counts as previously published.
- No AI-generated writing. Grammar tools are fine; the story and language must be your own.
Length & number of submissions
- 3,000–6,000 words.
- One submission at a time. You may submit a new piece after you receive a response.
- Simultaneous submissions are allowed; notify us immediately if accepted elsewhere.
Formatting & file
- .doc or .docx only.
- 14-pt, readable serif (e.g., Times New Roman), double-spaced, 1-inch margins.
- Indent first line of paragraphs; include page numbers.
- Title required.
- File name: LastName_Title_MM3Submission.docx (e.g., Woodliff_VengefulMessenger_MM3Submission.docx).

- If composites or timeline compressions are used, add a brief author’s note.
- We may request verification.
Payment & rights
- $25 USD upon publication via PayPal (or check for U.S. authors).
- We buy First Serial Rights (world English) for print, ebook, and website plus non-exclusive right to use brief excerpts for promotion.
- Rights revert to the author upon publication; we request 90-day exclusivity from publication date and the right to keep the piece in our archives and in the published anthology edition(s).

Writing personal memoirs can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our three-month writing program provides ample time to craft and refine your short story of mystical experience. Each Monday at 6:30 PM CST, we gather as a creative community to brainstorm, share, and support one another. With guided lessons, writing exercises, and in-depth feedback, you’ll have everything you need to shape your experience into a compelling narrative.
Then, if you're ready, you can submit your story for publication! Unlike other publishers who simply reject stories without explanation, we are invested in your success. If your submission isn’t initially accepted, as one of our students, you’ll receive detailed editorial feedback and an opportunity to revise and resubmit—because your story deserves to be heard.
For a one-time fee of $195, you gain:
